Box of Smiles Shared Experience programme
May 3, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 12:45 pm

This 6-session workshop programme (Tuesdays from 3rd May) is for people experiencing early-stage dementia, mild cognitive impairment, memory challenges and their companions. On this occasion, only those who expect to be able to attend all 6 sessions can be accommodated. To register, please email emily@arts4dementia.org.uk or call 020 3633 9954 as soon as possible.
Arts 4 Dementia has teamed up with Ashford Place to bring you a brand new creative words of expression workshop. Expect poetry, lyric writing and musical influences.
This programme has been inspired by Ronald Amanze, an A4D Trustee who lives with early-stage dementia. Having been a music producer for many years, Ronald has seen the benefits of engaging with music and songwriting that he says ‘brings a therapeutic calm and a smile to my face.’
Published poet, Pamela Thompson will facilitate the workshops and introduce the group to a number of different writing techniques. This will be an opportunity for participants to engage in a variety of writing forms.
Get together with your local community for a programme full of creativity and communal making. No previous experience is necessary!
Lunch will be provided after the session to give you the opportunity to socialise with fellow participants.
The work created on this course will be part of our ‘Box of Smile’ initiative, demonstrating that engaging in the arts can empower our minds.
