DCAN Pre-Memory Assessment Support Forum

A DCAN event to discuss the support available for people, and needs during the wait for a memory assessment

We know people are waiting longer than ever for a memory assessment appointment. People have told us that it is a difficult time and that they don’t know where they can turn to for support.

DCAN are working with NHSE to improve the support available for people during this time.

This event will update on the project so far, the findings from our surveys of people who are waiting or have recently had a memory assessment, and our conversations with providers about what support is available.

We want to hear from you about your experience of waiting for a memory assessment, for yourself or a family member, what support you found useful and what you wish had been available.

We also want to connect with providers of support to hear what you can offer at this time and how we can improve access to it.

DCAN will use the insights from this meeting to help develop a website people can visit while they are waiting, with links to resources, services, and activities they can undertake to help during the wait.
