Left to Cope Alone: The unmet support needs after a dementia diagnosis

August 9, 2022 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

Alzheimer’s Society and DCAN are collaborating to bring you an event on post-diagnosis support.

Dementia Change Action Network is a network of people and organisations working together to make personalisation a reality for people with dementia.

Alzheimer’s Society and DCAN are collaborating to bring you an event focused on the report recently published by Alzheimer’s Society – Left to Cope Alone: The unmet support needs after a dementia diagnosis. This event will be co-hosted by a person living with dementia.

This report has sought the views and experience of over 2,000 people affected by dementia to understand the gaps in the support offered to them after diagnosis. It found that people’s needs are holistic and wide-ranging, encompassing support for their medical, emotional and social wellbeing, and yet people are often missing out on consistent, timely post-diagnostic care.

With this event we want to highlight that with the right support in the community, people can live well with dementia and we will discuss a practical and achievable set of commissioning goals that will give people affected by dementia the care and support they deserve and need.

We want to hear what you have to say so during this event there will be an opportunity for you to contribute in discussion groups.

Join us! This is a free online event that is open to everyone; people living with dementia, their family and carers, dementia support providers and professionals working in the field of dementia, health and social care.
