This free, practical guide for organisations wishing to become more accessible and inclusive for people affected by dementia is now available to download.

People living with dementia can sometimes face challenges when attending live sports events.

In a bid to support clubs and venues make sporting events more accessible to people living with dementia, Alzheimer’s Society has published this guide for people working at clubs and venues, aiming to:

  • educate them about how dementia affects people and the unique challenges that arise in a club or venue environment
  • offer practical recommendations so people affected by dementia can continue feeling supported, access community activities, and keep spectating at live events
  • explain how to support their own staff affected by dementia and how to signpost them to Alzheimer’s Society services
  • provide guidance on how they can set up, maintain, or improve their own community activities for people affected by dementia
  • share good practice and creative ideas from other clubs and venues across the sector.
