During recent lockdowns many turned to arts activities as a way to boost spirits and improve general wellbeing. The Art by Post programme, which began in May 2020, is part of the Southbank Centre’s Arts and Wellbeing programme and has provided over 4,500 people at risk from social isolation, loneliness and digital exclusion with free cultural activities.
Booklets sent out by post guide users through a series of activities which will spark imagination, keep minds active and help people stay connected to others. Included in the pack is a Freepost envelope for artwork and booklet responses to be sent back to the programme team, and many of the art works will be included as part of the upcoming Art by Post exhibition.
The programme is now on hold over the summer of 2021 as the team prepares for the exhibition, which will be held at the Southbank Centre, London, from 20th September to 3rd October and then continues to venues around the country – .
