Following the success of their 2021 and 2022 terms, Arts 4 Dementia and top arts and design university Central Saint Martins will be back with more in 2023

This series of practical art workshops for people with early-stage dementia or mild cognitive impairment, and their companions, will start on February 24th 2023.  The programme runs over 5 sessions (February 24, March 3, 10, 17 and April 14) from 2pm-4pm at Central Saint Martins, London, and is free of charge.

Numbers are restricted, so registering in advance is required, visit Arts 4 Dementia for more information.

Participants will be using both traditional and digital skills but no previous experience is necessary, the idea is to just give it a go.

The workshops have been receiving some fantastic feedback, here’s a few thoughts from people who took part in the 2021 term:

“I’m really excited about being an art student on this project. I thought my first drawing experience was so enjoyable and it did such a great job bringing what I term as therapeutic calm, to my Brain. While on the workshop I literally forgot the stress related issues, which have been occupying my mind.”

“I’m learning that art is not just about paintings, the student facilitators give everyone time to take part and have their voice heard. I’m learning that I can express myself in art.”

“It is impressive that people from such a prestigious college should give up their time to help people with this distressing and annoying condition which makes me exasperated with myself and intolerant of others…being encouraged to do something practical really helps. Now there is a purpose to Fridays.”
