Head of Research and Publications at Dementia UK, Dr. Karen Harrison Dening, introduced the blog series, each one with a different focus; physical activities, arts and creativity, and reminiscence.
Dr Harrison wrote: ‘Dementia can cause people to withdraw from activities and enjoyable interaction with family so it’s important to try and maintain those interests and relationships to support people living with dementia to lead a better and more enjoyable quality of life’.
From a session of indoor bowls to reminiscence therapy, the blog provides a valuable insight into how beneficial these activities can be. A range of activities are suggested in each edition of the blog, along with variations where they may be necessary (seated exercise, for example).
