At a glance

The ‘Going Out’ series was launched with an article focusing suggestions and tips for visits to galleries, museums and exhibitions.

With restrictions on social and leisure activities lifting, many people are now making plans to return to their favourite gallery or museum.  The first in this new series of articles from Dementia UK, Consultant Admiral Nurse, Jules Knight provides guidance on how families can make the most out of a day out with someone they know who is living with dementia.

The article gives suggestions of how to select which museum/experience to go to, practical tips for the visit, and ideas of back-up plans should they be required.

Also recommended is this useful list of Dementia-friendly museums and galleries, from The Dementia Network.
