The ‘Whose Social Care is it Anyway?’ Inquiry group has issued a report sharing the first findings of the inquiry.

The Whose Social Care is it Anyway? inquiry, an initiative of the Social Care Future movement, received input from over 500 people about their experience with social care. The inquiry report, which is now available online,  details five key changes that are required to reach the Social Care Future vision – “We all want to live in the place we call home with the people and things that we love, in communities where we look out for one another, doing things that matter to us.”

The five key changes highlighted in the report are:

  1.     Communities where everyone belongs
  2.     Living in the place we call home
  3.     Leading the lives we want to live
  4.     More resources, better used
  5.     Sharing power as equals

The next stage of the inquiry will focus on these 5 key changes, with the aim of developing the solutions that can make the Social Care Future vision a reality.

“#socialcarefuture is a growing movement of people with a shared commitment to bring about major positive change in what is currently called “social care.”  It’s for those who want to take part in imagining, communicating and creating together a future where what we currently call social care makes a major contribution to everyone’s well being and which, as a result, will enjoy high levels of public – and hence political – support.”
